Born on 14the April 1957, Agbaje is a distinguished alumnus of Ibadan, graduating in 1979 with first class honours in political science. He won the Faculty of the Social Sciences prize for the Best Graduating Student that year. He obtained a Masters Degree in Mass Communication (1981) and PhD in political science at Ibadan in 1988.
Having joined the faculty in March 1984 as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Political Science, he rose through the ranks becoming, Lecturer II in 1086; Lecturer I (19989; senior lecturer in (1992) and Professor(1998). He has served on several important University organs such as the Senate, Appointments and Promotions (2003 – 2005) and the Development Sub-Committee.
A distinguished academic, Agbaje has at various times been visiting Commonwealth Fellow at the International Development Center, Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford University UK; visiting USIA Scholar, Trans-regional Center for Democratic Studies (TCDS); Graduate Faculty, New School for Social Research; Resource person at Mellen University, Turks and Caicos Islands and Faculty Co-Chair on Globalization, Democracy and Development at the University of Cape Town/New School University Democracy and Diversity Institute for Doctoral and post-doctoral fellows, Cape Town; Consultant to the National Planning Commission; International Foundation For Election Systems (IFES)’ ECOWAS’ Africa Institute, South Africa, UNDP, African Economic Research Consortium amongst others.
Agbaje is Editor-in –Chief, Review of Leadership in Africa; Corresponding Editor, Media, Culture and Society; Member, Editorial Board, International Journal of African Studies and Studies in Politics and Society; member, Editorial Advisory Board, the Nigerian Army Quarterly Journal.
He is married to Adebola, a librarian and they are blessed with children. |

Mrs. Omotayo Omotunde Ikotun

Born in Makurdi on 16th January, 1954, Mrs. Ikotun hails from Oriade Local Government in the Osun State of Nigeria. An alumna of the University of Ibadan, Mrs. Ikotun obtained a Bachelor of Education degree in Theatre Arts and English (1977) and Masters Degree in Educational Administration (1985). She had the distinction of being Treasurer of the Student’s Union as an undergraduate.
A professional administrator, Ikotun started her career at UI in 1987 when she was appointed Administrative Officer. She became Assistant Registrar (1990); Senior Assistant Registrar 1993; Principal Assistant Registrar 1996; and Deputy Registrar 1999. She has at various times been Faculty Officer; Senior Assistant Registrar Deputy Vice-Chancellors Office; Admissions Officer; Deputy Registrar Academic Office; Establishment. She was in 2005, headhunted for the position of pioneer Registrar, The Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.
A woman of many parts, Mrs. Ikotun was Head Girl at school, an officer of the University of Ibadan Alumni Association; Second National Vice-president of ANUPA (2002-2004) and Chairman, UI Branch of the association since 2002. A keen sports woman, she has played volley ball representing both the Western and Oyo states. Her other hobbies include singing, reading, exercising and traveling.
She is married to Babatunde, a professor of crop science and they are blessed with children. |
Mr. J. A. Bankole

Mr. J.A. Bankole was born in October 1959. He obtained the Bachelor of Science (Hons.) of the University pf Nigeria, Nsukka in 1984 and the Master of Business Administration, University of Ibadan in 1997. He is a member of various professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management and the A.U.A (UK).
As a student, he won prizes as the Best Student in Arithmetic Processes and Principles of Education (at the Ansar Ud Deen Teacher Training College, Otta, 1977) He worked as a School teacher between 1976 and 1980 and as an accountant at the then University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University) (1984-1989. He was appointed a Senior Accountant at the University of Ibadan in August 1989 and rose to the position of Bursar in 1999.
He has written numerous papers. He is married with children. His hobbies include, sports, traveling, reading and music. |
